That's right. Even WE were surprised at how quickly the original dates sold out. So now we've added a second weekend - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th to MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30th - and it's already filling up. So if you want to join us this fall in Vermont, let us know right away. (Scroll down for the Registration Form.) This Getaway will be held at the same host facility and will follow the same agenda as you'll see in The Getaway at a Glance section below.
If you could design the perfect pie getaway, what would you include? A gorgeous kitchen to work in, shoulder-to-shoulder with good pie friends? Winding country roads with panoramas of red-gold fall leaves around every bend? Crisp, juicy apples straight from the orchard, and the King Arthur Baker's Store just a short drive away? Personal pie lessons from one of America's premier pie instructors?
Yep, us too. Which is why we've put all of that together in our 2019 New England Pie Getaway - and you're invited.
Headquarters for our New England Pie Getaway is the luxury estate pictured above and in the slideshow here. Situated on 60 lovely acres, our amenity rich home base (and second guest house) has a selection of gorgeous rooms to choose from. We'll do our best to accommodate you in a room that suits your needs, with priority given to the earliest enrollees. Our packages include all meals except Saturday dinner. When you're not baking, explore the grounds, swim in the saltwater pool, take a sauna, or lounge on the cobblestone patio.
The beauty of an intimate event like ours is that we can tailor the instruction to your needs. The curriculum and baking schedule is still taking shape, but it's likely to include some of these highlights from past Getaways...not to mention a few surprises from Ken's big new pie book, coming in 2020.
...by hand, and in the food processor. You'll get it, and go home confident that you'll never meet another pie dough you can't master.
We'll use local apples, juicy pears, cranberries and more. The aroma of freshly baked fruit pies will fill our venue.
But why bake just sweet pies when there are so many savory pies to consider? We'll bake up half a dozen of Pie Academy favorites.
You know the expression good things come in small packages? They were talking about the mini pies we're going to bake.
That's the subject of Ken's new online course, and in this session he's going to walk you through the secrets of making your own.
Bring your notepad and pull out your camera, because you'll want to document all the neat new techniques you're going to learn.
We're designing our New England Pie Getaway schedule with both morning and afternoon sessions, so you'll have plenty of time to see the sites while you're in the area. Here are some of the places we love and you should plan to visit, these sites - and more - located within a short drive of our venue.
This is THE New England destination for anyone who loves to bake. Thousands of square feet featuring baking tools, fabulous bakery, and café.
Home to some of the most gorgeous artisan pottery and glassware you will find in this country. Watch their craftsmen hand-blow fabulous glass pieces.
Woodstock is just what you would expect from a small Vermont village: friendly, walkable, picturesque, and with plenty of great shops to capture your fancy. You'll wish you lived here.
