December is peak season for those of us who love to bake, and we're celebrating with a couple of fabulous live classes this month at The Pie Academy. First up, on December 10th, is a Holiday Baking Bonanza where we'll create a trio of recipes Ken counts among his all-time favorites, including a buttery tea cake made with whole berry cranberry sauce; a melt-in-your-mouth macadamia and Cheddar cheese shortbread; and a wonderfully good-and-gooey hazelnut coffee pie. The following Sunday we'll make a trio of savory, pastry-wrapped pockets, perfect for hearty cold-weather appetites, including Ken's always-popular version with broccoli, chicken and extra-sharp Cheddar. And because friends and family often drop by this time of year, we'll do mini mushroom and goat cheese turnover that you can assemble ahead, if you like, then freeze and bake later. Bring your notebook, maybe a mug of eggnog, and get ready to settle for some awesome December baking.
