Greetings, and welcome to the start of The Pie Academy's 2024 online class season. We're starting the new year with a tribute to some lesser known - but by no means lesser delicious - regional American pies that Ken thinks you should get to know. They have enough in common to group them in this one class, but each has a particular flavor, twist or ingredient that sets them apart. Our lineup includes a Maple-Walnut Vinegar Pie (think pleasantly tart, not vinegar-y). "Transparent" pie, from Kentucky, that's said to be George Clooney's favorite. And one of Ken's favorite southern buttermilk pies - precisely which one, he's not sure of quite yet. You're just a whisk or set of beaters away from three of the best pies you've ever tried, so don't miss this first class of the year.
