BANANA CREAM PIE
SUN, MAY 17TH, 2:00 PM EASTERN
Nothing says "comfort food dessert" quite like a big, creamy-messy slice of banana cream pie - not apple pie, not pecan, pumpkin, or any of the other pie big shots.
What is it that gives banana cream pie its special place of honor in the pantheon of piedom?
Well, it's...virtually everything about it, from its buttery cookie crust, to its silky, vanilla-flavored pastry cream, just-ripe-enough bananas sliced just so, an of course, mounds and mounds of billowy whipped cream.
And that's precisely how it'll stack up in this live class featuring one of Ken's first and favorite pies.
We'll weigh the pros and cons of a pastry crust vs a crumb crust; whisk up a streamlined version of pastry cream that Ken favors these days; (apparently even old dogs can learn new tricks!); consider how best to cut our bananas and layer our ingredients; and whether or not it makes sense to stabilize the whipped cream topping for your pie.
It will be, in other words, the banana cream pie class that you've always wanted to attend.
So go ahead and get signed up and we'll see you in class. And tell your cream pie friends, too! Thanks.
