Cherry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Let's face it: unless you're a pretty serious cake person, how many great cake recipes do you need in your files? Half a dozen, maybe? Carrot cake...your best cheesecake...chocolate layer cake...pound cake...a couple of others?

And at the top of Ken's list? His Cherry Sour Cream Coffee Cake. Like the best crumb cakes he grew up on in New Jersey, it's rich, moist, and dense, thick on the crumb topping and same for glaze.

Ken changes out the fruit according to the season, but his cherry version - whose bursts of cherry red fit right in with the fall and holiday colors - is his favorite, the first cake he thinks of when he needs a cake for a crowd. (Wait till you see what sort of cherries he uses.)

One of his favorite things about it? "This cake freezes like a charm. There's usually plenty left, so I'll freeze slices, and let them thaw at room temp overnight. A few seconds in the microwave, and breakfast is served."

Everyone needs a sensational, can't-miss coffee cake recipe from time to time. This, say's Ken, is the one you've been waiting for.
