BOSTON CREAM PIE

Sunday, March 22nd, 2:00 PM Eastern

It might not be a pie by any modern day definition, but we're happy to live with the ambiguity of the name when a dessert tastes this good.

In fact, Boston cream pie is assembled from a couple of components regularly found with pies - pastry cream, and chocolate ganache.

Combine these with layers of hot milk sponge cake, and you've got a genuine classic on your hands. Not to mention the perfect light dessert for Easter.

Ken loves Boston cream pie, he knows how to give it every advantage, and he's anxious to show you how to make this beauty in your own kitchen.

As for the unlikely name, Boston Cream Pie was invented by a chef at Boston's famous Parker House Hotel in the mid-1800's. Apparently, cake layers were often baked in pie tins back then, so the name made perfect sense at the time.

That said, we'll be using cake pans.
